A helping hand when someone dies

When someone dies, their next of kin or the person appointed within the Will is responsible for finalising their affairs. This includes things like closing bank accounts, selling their home, paying taxes, debts and other expenses, as well as applying to the Court for ‘Probate'. After which, they then have to pay the inheritance due to the beneficiaries named in the Will or who are entitled by law. This process is often referred to as Estate Administration or Probate.

Estate Administration can be a lengthy and complicated process, especially when the estate involves numerous assets and properties. Dealing with the death of a loved one can involve many challenges, both emotional and practical. If you are a personal representative dealing with the estate as either an executor or an administrator, you may find yourself in an unfamiliar situation with unusual and confusing terminology.
